Wedding Trends 2019
A quick review of those wedding trends we will be seeing in the new year affirms even more that when you are creating your special day that it is all about you and your fiance’s tastes and preferences. We are reluctant to say anything goes, but really, the options for creating a wedding unique to you and your love is easier than ever. Let’s dive in!
Dark & Edge Colors
The stereotypical wedding is associated with whites, pastels, and other light colors. However, the tables are turning with the incorporation of moodier colors and palettes. Dark wood and foliage, and candle light distinctly contract white, light elements. The opportunity to be adventurous by mixing colors that wouldn’t normally go together will be seen a lot this year.
Return to Classic Elements
Even though we will see more non-traditional color pallets, it isn’t without the resurgence of classic wedding decor. You will see silver candlesticks, monogrammed linen napkins, crystal stemware, Battenburg lace overlays, and more. What you may have seen tucked away in your Grandma’s attic from her special day may closely resemble what we will be seeing at weddings in the DFW area.
Even though there is a popular trend to abandon the traditional wedding cakes for other desserts, the wedding cake has not completely fallen from grace. However, unlike it’s older counterparts, the wedding cake will be a pivotal piece of wedding decor. Cakes will employ fondant and other decorative elements to create colorful, bold cakes that will likely draw attention.
Royal Wedding-Inspired Elements
The Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Royal Wedding was a sight for sore eyes with larger-than-life floral elements and those elements that inspire a dramatic entrance. It is likely that you will see large flower installations such as flower-crusted arches and backdrops at weddings across the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Vellum — the nearly transparent paper good — is making a comeback. It is likely that it will be seen on escort cards, and used to make artful items such as invitations and envelopes. Vellum is an attractive paper good to incorporate into your wedding because it exudes elegance, but it also comes in a variety of colors and finishes. You may also see leather, suede, and acrylic and gold leafing.
Balloons are no longer just reserved for whimsical children’s parties. Balloon walls are becoming a quite popular element to incorporate into wedding decor and reception activities. Expect to see artful balloon arrangements for selfie stations, seating charts, and more!
We’ve only just begun to cover some of this years biggest trends. Stay tuned for our next post to learn more, and be sure to visit the Thistle & That Floral Boutique website to learn how we can help you create a wedding day you will never forget with beautiful fresh wholesale flowers.
